Tennessee Fire Suppression Insurance
The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, Division of Fire Prevention, Permits and Licensing Unit ensures that Fire Sprinkler Systems Contractors and Fire Extinguisher Specialists and Technicians are properly licensed.
Fire Sprinkler Systems Contractors must have a certification of registration issued by the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, Permits and Licenses Unit with a licensed Responsible Managing Employee in order to install fire protection systems for both residential and commercial fire sprinkler systems. Certificates of registration and licenses expire on June 30.
Testing is required to obtain a license/permit as a Fire Extinguisher Specialist and Technician. As a Fire Extinguisher Specialist, you can open your own company if you are licensed as a Specialist. License renewal dates for fire extinguisher specialists and technicians expire on December 31.
